Hindko Language

The Hindko language is the part of Lahnda subgroup of Indo Aryan language spoken by hindkowans
in Pakistan and in northern India. Some Pashtun tribes in Pakistan as well as some hindki people of
Afghanistan also speak this language. Hindko is interpreted to be the mean language of the Indus which
is the source of the etymology for all the words. The term hindko is also referred to as the Hindu Kush
mountain range. The language is spoken in the areas of the NWFP like Hazara, in Punjab like Attock
and in the administered Kashmir. The largest hindko speakers can be found in the areas like Abbot bad,
Haripur, Mansehra and Attock.
